
Facebook Startups for Mobile Apps Developers in India
Facebook Startup is new program designed by Facebook to help early stage mobile developer to build and grow their apps. Facebook platform was launched in 2007 which allowed developers to create news and games to be played and consumed on Facebook. Developers created 30,000 apps in the year 2007. Today Facebook has 1.49bn active users. Research has said that one out of every five minutes spent on a Smartphone in the U.S is now on Facebook app which proves that people are are interested on Facebook apps.
FbStart is a program the company announced in April 2014, offering free tools as well as technical support from Facebook’s in-house software engineers and experts to help developers build mobile apps and startups that could be integrated with Facebook. FbStart has become more popular in Asia Pacific region in less than a year.
Facebook contributed $29bn to the global economy and created 660,000 jobs in 2014 (mostly generated by third-party app). Facebook said that 70% of developers are located outside the US. Facebook has brought FBStart program to Asia Pacific and already distributed $50 millions to the startups.
Facebook started internet.org program to connect the users worldwide. Facebook’ CEO Mark Zuckerberg wanted to make everybody on planet to be connected with internet. Two third of the users in the world can’t access the internet but internet.org program can help them to connect by offering basic internet services at affordable prices.
“There’s an amazing opportunity for Indian-based developers to work with Facebook to grow their businesses, and we are doubling down on our investment in the country,” Ime Archibong, director for strategic partnerships at Facebook, said in the release.
